GBI Arrests Former Washington City Council Member

A former Washington City Council member was arrested Tuesday, according to confirmation from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Nathaniel Cullars, 70, of Washington, Georgia, was taken into custody and charged with two counts of Prohibition on Nude or Sexually Explicit Electronic Transmissions and two counts of Distributing Obscene Material.

GBI Asked to Assist Investigation

According to the GBI, the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office requested state investigative assistance on February 4, 2026.

The request was connected to allegations involving the alleged distribution of nude photographs by Cullars.

Cullars Booked Into Wilkes County Jail

Following the investigation, Cullars was arrested on June 23, 2026.

He was then booked into the Wilkes County Jail.

Investigation Remains Ongoing

Authorities said the case remains active and under investigation.
