Peaches, pecan pie, and barbecue may be strongly connected to Georgia, but a new national food ranking has chosen a different state favorite as Georgia’s most iconic dish: boiled peanuts.
A recent Food Network roundup highlighting the signature food of every state named boiled peanuts as Georgia’s standout culinary symbol. Although Georgia is widely known as the Peach State, the ranking suggests that boiled peanuts may better represent the state’s food culture.
For many longtime Georgians, the choice is not surprising. Georgia is one of the top peanut-producing states in the country, and peanuts are officially recognized as the state crop.
